I would love to find an AG,any AG in terrible condition for a reasonable price that I could clean and fix up.

One of my hobbies has been restoring Thumbelina dolls from the 1960's, and some of them have been waaaaay gone.I like to think I could rescue an AG in need too.

I am too afraid to enjoy my new dolls. With a used one or one I restored, I think I could enjoy playing with her, and even let my little Mae play with her a little to help her learn respect for our dolls.

I am always watching for a fixer upper project doll.I was so sad when this went too high for me-http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...583578212&rd=1

So yeah, if you have any ruined dolls available, just let me know.

Wow - it would be so much fun to nurse those poor dolls back to health. I've always liked to restore things. Where do you buy wigs - specifically, where do you reccomend buying them?

I feel so sorry for Josefina!!!! I would LOVE to get them and fix them up, but last time I tried to bid on some fixer upper dolls, I lost by a few seconds! I keep hoping I'll find one at a thrift store or garage sale I can get....LOL.

Oh my god that just breaks my heart I was ready to cry after looking at the auction. I could never bid on anything like that.

GreyMyst - That is so interesting to me. We made over a doll to look like DD. It involved taking the wig off one doll and putting it on another to get the right hair/eye combination. Anyway we now have one doll with a very damaged wig that just sits on top of her head. She looks like a cancer patient. DH named her Marlo (for Marlo Thomas) in honor of St. Judes. I wanted to get a new wig and fix her up for my niece. DH said, "No Way! She is not leaving this house." DD wants to fix her up and give her to her Daddy for Father's Day. I read on the board that once you name a doll she's not leaving. I hope DH likes his gift .

*gasp* The poor dolls! Especialy Josefina and the one on the second auction with the stuffing coming out of her body. And does she have silver eye or is that just the lighting?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Oh yea, silver eye AND an exploding torso. Actually that looks to be caused by a dog(the body) so it makes sense that slobber would have gotten into the eyes and caused the delamination and resulting silver eye.

I am pretty sure she had silver eye too. I just think it would be so much fun to bring one back to life.Turn her back into a loved and cherished girl instead of yesterdays news. There are some pitiful ones on Ebay sometimes, but they almost always go for so much that you might as well buy a new one.I keep hoping to find a BIN on one that is damaged, with a price that reflects the condition of the doll.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well I dunno. I bought a nice PM Felicity with a TERRIBLE haircut (now Ophelia) for $28. This included most of her ballgown and her meet shoes and socks. She easily could have been brand new again for the price of a new head as her body was PERFECT. She even SMELLED new (I'm big on smells LOL). I decided to makeover the head instead , but that was just my preferance, since I already had a stock redhead Lissie. I can always get a new "official" head later.

I saw a ratty haired Sam (no other problems) go for $31 last night.

There ARE dolls worth saving. If I had the money and time I'd be the Saint Jude of AG. Saving all the hopeless and lost causes.
